Anyone used this? I'd like to hear some reviews.... especially if you've used the real thing.

i use dynatube bass with an active cheap ibanez soundgear (200euro used) and i must say that i'm satisfied with the result.
very flexible, great soudn, but you have to tweak on it and learn how to use it.
the only annoying thing is the bug which doesnt recall the preset once you open a new project... so that everytime you change a knob you have to save a dedicate dynatube preset and recall later...

i am also very happy with it (and a friend of mine, good bassplayer, really appreciates the sound quality. What i would stress is that it keeps the original instrument alive ! It is "easier" than the guitar versions (other non-bass dynatubes) that need a good DI to perform very well. Great devices for me, with no latency...

I got this one today - it likes my bass :D

These are nice throaty rigs - traditionally i just d.i. the jazz into the desk when recording, but these two will add some nice flavour to that. Especially overdrive-wise ;)

A bit more playing around, and yes - the AG sounds like an Ampeg. Big block, 8x10 tone. Less treble than the real thing - but that's cool, I'm not running it as loud.

If you get time, is there any chance of a few samples Wayne? Maybe dry & wet (bypass on/off) with various drive settings etc?

cheers! :)

thanks a lot, Wayne :)
pretty dirty Rock sound - needless to mention it's not exactly the AG's purpose, but how about it's performance on 'cleaner' side of the scale ?
Would it make Jamerson, Miller or Wooten sound like poo ? :D

cheers, Tom

nice to hear, brings up old memories :-D
But my Status headless graphite necked e-bass would have been easier to record I think (regarding dynamics) :-D
i almost forgot the struggle laying behind every single tone, to get it played right and recorded right, as the sound range is enormous, including the most difficult part of it, the lows.
A synth is so easy actually...
Most impressive at first sight was nr. 3, scary real if you ask me :-)

Number 3 is straight no chaser - my preferred option. So far it feels like dynatube will be handy to double bass tracks & fade a little in.

Would it make Jamerson, Miller or Wooten sound like poo ? Is that possible? :D

bosone,

re that preset bug you talked about, did you check the attributes of the the file to see that it wasnt set to read only. Not sure if that would cause that sort of thing, but just a thought, and one never knows. :)

Valis created a batch file to fix hidden abd read only files in scope that happens sometimes

Worth a try

Once you get a sound sorted it's good to play with the distance knob .It's no mistake it's on the end of the line
Hey wayne I finally saved my midi c.c. preset . The only problem is I tried so many things I'm not exactly sure how I did it . So I'll have to do it again on the Mesa... although seeing as it was in the mixer preset list maybe it'll just apply .....who knows
The mark of success on these dynas as far as I'm concerned is that they just keep getting better the more you use them
