I once again have the need to consult the Guru's of Scope.

I have too many compressors now but I have never tried any of these yet. I used hardware compressors for a long time, but this is a specific use.

I have an SL9000 in my Master Out Insert slot, and it serves me well as a gate, and equaliser, but what compressor would be good for an all keyboard rig, where never more than 4 instruments are playing. This is an odd request as most comps are needed when mastering several tracks, but I know some of us record and play in un-hardware, and unorthodox ways.

I need an over all smoothness on all signals coming out of my Scope project window, prior to the hardware mixer where I am mixing an SE-1X mono lead synth, and the B4000 w/ a hardware spring. Those 2 units are mixing rather well considering they are separate from the Projects I/O's.

I layer synths like ProWave, and the Flexor III patches ( ChebyPad ). Six String gets layered w/ Acoustic 12 String samples, etc. The volumes are all set right and never wander much, but something's missing, so I believe some tricks w/ a compressor might be needed.

I have all of the CW, DAS, and MCCY stuff as far as compressors go. I haven't purchased Wolf's yet, but I am sure that Dog Will Hunt also.

I'm just trying to say that some of these compressors, and other virtual devices sometimes do more than a hardware compressor, and have extra tricks I might not be aware of.

This forum could really be a nice place to have interesting discussions about the future of Scope in relation to new developments in technology and live playing etc.
Opening the forum would then show a nice list of interesting themes of today, without rather personal or purely technical questions, normaly called problems.
In doubt, I always choose to stay away from the GS forum, but that's me

I thought you was asking what compressor is best suited for a keyboard group submix or whatever, with the complicating factor of different implementations between the hardware and software...which just you can solve by reorganising the effect chain.

Didn't you try the Vinco?
I think it will do the job perfectly, especially in a live situation.
I would make a short recording of some multi synth parts, and do a compressor test.
It makes you concentrate on listening and works fast with parallel setups in your mixer.
It takes a few hours tho, but you can save the project for identical tests

Tried the Flexor way?

Put an envelope follower, and send it to negative modulation of a dynamic shaper. So first overdrive the material, then reduce it using its own volume. Or put something on sidechain, ie. just feed something else to the env follower.

Not suggesting this would be an overall solution, just another one in your arsenal of tools!

Since my rig has begun to turn into a hardware based set-up again, this leaves my mixers and Modular to pick up all of those luscious DSP's just sittin' 'round.

I just started playing w/ Flexor a couple of days ago.
