the fact that he likes the asb box is a good proof for its quality.

He also revealed the weak points of the instrument (a bit to static oscillators, and some artifacts in resonance at higher notes) but his overall impression is great.

there are also sample comparisons at the end comparing a real minimoog vs the cw one, same with the prophet. Unbelieveable how exact some sounds are.

Funnily he does the same trick as I always do: switch off the cw chorus/phaser on the synths.
I also prefer the raw sound.

For the people that don`t know him, he is the owner of the bluesynths site and is an analog gear lover and collector and picky when it comes to va synth quality.

very nice site btw. :)

I`m sure he would also be a great scope synth device designer also. We should spend him a pro card with an sdk.

Exactly what I do.

Chorus on a polyphonic synth is best done w/ the Oscullators detuning.

The same goes for reverb. Reverb is a sin.

But delays are the juice for me. And of course filter swept pads w/ alittle phase makes FAT BASTARDS happy. :D

Nice info Brotha' Man HiFiBoom, Thanks.

Reverb isn't really a sin per se.

But excessive reverb is certainly a sin (I'd class that as anything over 5-10%) and you will go to hell for it.

you should never go to a concert hall or disco hall for an audition.

I don`t think its a sin to use reverb intensively also, the sin is to use lower end gear, which fail to sound good at higher wet levels... :D

But I aggree with jimmy that on certain tasks delay gives "greater", "hugher", "fatter", "from another world" "hell_this_rockz" results

now what about a feedback reverberated delay. . .

Bad reverb is a sin. Good reverb makes even the shittiest sounds pleasing to the ear and psyche.
