Damn, es ist auf Deutsch!!! :x

I'm curious about new synths & plugins (Gizmo, compressore, EQ, etc.)
There are free with the new OS 5.0 or are as additive $ plugins???
Anyone can translate this?

ps. I like the new OS colors and windows :D

no wonder, as he was one of the suppliers of that information :D ;)

cheers, Tom

I wonder why nobody makes a comment about the 18 dsps and not the 140 that everyone claimed xite had?

uh nobody claimed XITE had "140 dsp's". It's supposed to have the power equivalent of 140 dsp's as used in the current cards. The dps's in the XITE are newer, more powerful chips.

capiche? ;)

They claimed to have the same ammount of power as 140DSPs would give us with the current hardware.

Uh, one new DSP has the power of 7.7 of the older DPS...
SC can create a single DSP board (stereo analog I/O and midi) for the cost of less than 100$!!!
A Pulsar II for the masses :D

I wonder what your mathematical line of thought was, when you came up with that calculation.

new generation DSP has power of 140 old gen DSP
the Xite features 18 phisical (new) DSP inside
ergo: 140/18 = 7,7777
One new DSP has the power of 7,7 old DSP

Just a homemade calculation ;)

80-100 $ for PulsarII equivalent
160-200 $ fro a Scope Pro equivalent

They could KILL the global "2 channel audio card" market (M-Audio, Tascam, ESI, Roland, etc.) :o

too bad that the graph editor we are used to in the stm 2448 mixer (or PEQ) is not there...

Aww man! Video just doesn't do the kit any justice! I love how John's Solaris is evolving and he is rightly very proud. No wonder there is such a buzz at the Sonic Core camp. I've held out from upgrading my ibook laptop. I'm still running 10.3.9 without worries, not really concerned with the most up to date upgrades of software, but Xite has provided the most compelling reason to upgrade!
Only problem is that a new Macbook and Xite doesn't leave any money left for Solaris

I think you re right in this raw "guess" calculation.
which makes 1 spacef FB5 mixer =, almost 1 XIte dsp :-) (or 2 FP106 with Eqs on all tracks+1verb, or 1 multisynth poly 1 voice+3osc, everywhere)
which leaves only 17 dsp !
I told you that, with some developpers, this new power can be used faster than you think :o (but also, 18 fb5= more than 324 channels including 324 fat channels, so there is headroom too :-)

(sorry in advance to cite again my own devs but that's what i have as reference, and i found most of the recent big ones actually fit well in the 7.6 - 7.7 factor ... so some of you can also have a good idea of the power of 1 new dsp.).

Erminardi's calculations don't sound right to me at all. I think astroman was probably correct when he said that each new chip has 10 times the mflops of an old adsp21065.

may be i just don't have (forgot) the info. It is a guess. I didn't see astroman's post.
You have to take into account different devices too, (for example, the picture of 5 synths at 8 polyphony didn't used 5 dsp fully). Syncwise, i would not be surprised that it is 10 times the current chips.
After all, the total time i was on XITE or Scope 5 at the Messe didn't exceeded a few minutes (not a place for me to do tests)...
