From what I understand, if one connect's a gen 1 card with a gen 2 card, the old card can operate at a new lower latency? Anyone knows how this is done? I would think the old hardware is limited, but then a new hardware comes along ordering it faster and it works?

Also, if such configuration is used, and the old card has all the pluggins registered, will they still be useable with the new card set as master, considering it has no pluggins of it's own?

Yeah just connect em via the s/tdm bus tada.Doesnt matter wich plugs are registered on the old/new gen card(s).
