No midi out on my pulsar

Hi,

I use a PC with a pulsar II system as an instrument for some years (My sequencer runs on a different system) so I didn't realize I had this problem.

I just can't get the midi outs appear in the pulsar system host. Everything is fine on the projet (sequencer source are linked to midi dest...), the driver is configured for 2 in/outs, the midi in are fine, but no midi out.

Any idea?

Thanks

Pulsar II running 3.1
IRQ 22, no sharing

It's done for shure. here is the project:

Seq midi source -> Pulsar Midi A dest
Pulsar Midi A source -> Seq midi dest

Should be fine... It's not a project configuration problem imho.

are you sure that a midi track in the sequencer is assigned to the creamware midi driver and that the channel is set to allow midi info to pass through?

So it could be the midi drivers. did you try reinstalling them?

Yeah it's something about the driver but I don't have specificly midi drivers for the pulsar, only one driver coverring the all thing. And yes, I did a reinstall with no success. I'll try to delete files in the explorer to be shure.

I can't assign a track to the midi out because I can't see antything in midi out list (Ableton Live Cubase SX3 and the software I wanted to use on the desktop: Midiquest)
finally of course the midi out might be dead physically on the board
Hum I've two card and I tried both with the same result.
I meant the tab in the livebar.
Euuuu... I still don't anderstand what it is. A livebar in Windows? in the projet windows? Please notice that I'm in version 3.1, maybe it's a V4 thing.

Thanks

hmmm, this seems like a manual problem. if the cards are correctly installed, then they MUST work. do you have sequencer midi source and destination modules in the routing window?

wow, so you have midi into the sequencer and out of the sequencer. midi comes in from the cable whip on the card and goes out that way.

that should work. of course you have no audio and the routing is pretty limited, but you should have midi, as long as that project is in place BEFORE you open the sequencer.

the sequencer midi modules represent the physical i/o(the jacks, if you can believe it) of the multitrack recorder that is the sequencer. the pulsar modules represent the hardware connectors on the card(the other ends of the actual wires). asio source/dest modules are the actual jacks for the sequenecer and the wav and 24bit wav modules are i/o for other windows programs. you can use a mixer in there and connect things just like in a real room. also, this imaginary room(the routing window) can interface in realtime with the real world via the hardware i/o(pulsar midi, analog, adat and sp/dif modules).

for more channels of wav i/o add more modules as you please. for more asio modules, right click on the asio source and choose "surfaces/i/o". for more sequencer midi ports add miodules as you please. the limitations are,
1. every module uses dsp. you have 6 or 4 for a pulsar1.
2. sequencer midi and asio modules must be in the project with the proper number of i/o BEFORE opening the sequencer. the sequencer must be closed BEFORE those modules are removed or changed or Scope is closed.

Scope is very powerful. i hope it serves you well! have fun and use your imagination....

ok, gotcha. i should read your first post more carefully and stop blah blah..

have you checked for continuity on the cable whip? if you can get midi in but not out of the card, then that's the most likely suspect. you can purchase a new cable whip if yours is bad, but if you can solder and are patient, a broken connection can be fixed. i've seen the wires get broken inside the d-sub connector. it'll come apart and snap back together if you're careful. you might be able to spot the problem quickly. i really think that if you can get midi in, it's extremely unlikely that the problem is in the card. naturally, i assume you've also checked the midi cable that is connected to the midi out on the cable whip.

Hi,
I solved the problem by doing a fresh install from ground: formatting, Windows XP + Pulsar.
Everything works like a charm
Back to music
Thanks for your help
Cheers
