LBH VIII - The Funk

LBH VIII The Funk 110 BPM .

A Drum and bass line to play with the left hand, while the right hand plays a solo synth.
Consists of 4 presets chained in a cycle of 8 playing during 2mn37.

The bass is a bit squary and not really funk, but it was actually more to work on the drums.

Can be used for analisys of quantizing. I removed the scope soundcard latency, but didn't touch the rest.
Internally, the quantize resolution of LBH VIII is one sample @ 96khz (in theory), but the triggers need a little bit more to sound right.

This one is more fun than musical. Make sure you are near your wolume control, it can be horrible to hear this
goes from 60 to 360 bpm. I rise tempo with the "tempo remote" knob. Not sure the final will go to 360 bpm, it is a bit too much and useless.

Are these triggered by a couple of note on/offs?
The groove was very reminiscient of the Headhunters, laid back and full of feel.
Please give us more....

I like the drum sounds, a real nice electro kit, they are just the right amoung of realism to envision a kit being performed on, and electro enough to add a fresh twist.

I wanna know what controlled the speed of the BPM's?
It was glitchfree, I mean you either had a very long throw 100mm fader or a more accurate automated control.
Is there a dispaly BTW that shows the BPM's?
If so a pic would be really cool too.

This is the cubase project for "The Funk".

The second midi track is me playing the"notes" (to change the pitch of the bass/chords lines).

The first midi track is a cycle for the preset sequencer. It would need 1 single trigger in fact, but it is the way i organize myself, making midi items of the length of 1 cycle. It allows me to see in the sequencer how long are my preset sequences chains.

As you understood, having the Preset sequencer triggered independently allows to have 2 independant timiline for the preset seqeuncer and the melodies, ie, the presets will scroll independantly from what i play, and i can change notes without worrying about preset changes that happen automatically.

In crazy drummer, i just select the "tempo remote" poti, and rise the tempo ith "page up/down" arrow keys.

Like in MultiSynth, one can set the min/max tempos, so you know you won't go below or above your maximums.
It is also better to set a limited range for tempo remoter, because it allows smooth tempo moves. For example, if I use min=100 and max = 140, then i have 127 values with a hardware controller (you have each bpm as you have 128 values for going from 100 to 140).
If i set min=10 and max = 300, then the resolution is lower (like, every 3 or 4 bpm or less, and not all of them).

Page up/Down gives good results too.

You have certainly been busy my friend.
While VDAT has been a great companion to me lately I still feel the need for sequencing inside of the box and take advantage of an audio/MIDI sequencer.
Have you had better success w/ Cubase than Reaper?
Your Reaper Remote device might be useful also, have you experimented with it very much?
Sorry about the delay of response, I am bouncing back and forth from a BETA forum from another French developer ( VST ).

I have Reaper 2.0 and C4.0.
I don't even want to upgrade either of them.
I actually wish I would have bought Cubase SX3 instead of C4.
