unlucky.

I just lost my Job 2 weeks ago. There is no work for me anywhere unless I bight the bullet and change industry and accept a 50% pay cut. nightmare. I may be homeless later on next year.

Bloody global crisis bullSh$t... the greed of others is affecting everyone.

that's happening a lot these days. i hope it's only short term.

I have quit my job a year ago and I've been living on my savings hoping I would another job. What I found instead was that I had some unfinished business and a closet full of ghosts.

there are many ways to make extra money in times like this, but i would like to note one certain job almost everybody here can do, and is VERY rewarding:

Teaching.

most guys here are fountains of knowledge. if its music, technology or other things related. indeed teachers have always suffered a bad reputation, but let me tell you, teaching a subject you really know to people who really wanna know is one of the most rewarding things ever! it also enables you to stay in the same occupation field, evolve in it, gain experience and is good for your portfolio. even in hard times people will always want to gain knowledge, and in many forms, private lessons, college, even a website with google ads.

Teaching has positive effects on your career. when you have students who talk about you on the market, and when your students do well, you will do well!

spread your knowledge and that just might help keeping the roof on top of your head.

I slept in basements of Churches at night, and stood in lines to make 60 bucks a day before, and that was the closest to homeless I ever got.
Once you hit rock bottom, everything else is Gravy.
Remeber when you get your DAW and Camera out of the Pawn Shop to check and make sure they work. I pawned my gear for 2 months while I struggled to save enough money to get back to Nevada. I got back alright...............after 2 months of being the only white guy in lines for work and food and shelter in Philadelphia, I jumped on a Greyhound Bus back to Vegas and jumped back in the Concrete puddles. I discovered the GigaDAW's CPU, which was an expensive PII CPU was stolen.
So watch out for the dirtbags at Pawn Shops.

You sound like the creative, sensative kinda guy. Just pretend while you're doing some shitty laborious job in Lake Forest you're going to buy new gear. In my case, I looked at my little newborns picture every morning and promised I would never go on another cross country wild goose chase.

I think you'll be fine as long as you haven't turned into a crackhead.

ummm, we kinda know him? so he's kinda our homeless guy?

obviously there is still some support, family or otherwise....homelessness is a wide variety of experiences from the mildly uncomfortable to deadly exposure to the elements.

don't waste your time by thinking what to do.... start doing anything will be a good start.

Well, I am not special (even though many many people make me feel special) although I am different in many ways. To explain this I would have to tell you my entire life story. Do you want to know it?

Thanks for all the encouraging messages. Honestly, I did not expect such a warm return.
I access the Internet from a public library in Illinois, 2 hours at the time in one place, 3 hours at the the time in other place. Chicago public library gives you only 1 hour.
I sleep at various churches, we are in at 7:00 PM and must be out by 7:00 AM.
Yesterday I walked 16 miles to a church which is the farthest one in the series. It took me about 5 hours, but it was worth it. I have witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets a man can see. I wish I had a camera. The full moon was up early, before the sunset and all the trees shone red just before the sun disappeared. I wanted to stretch out my hands and do a pirouette right there in the middle of the road. I thought that it was so beautiful that it was very hard to be depressed about anything.
I am getting used to these hikes. My feet have built calluses and don't have to worry about blisters anymore. And it's not cold either. Walking keeps the body engine going.

I'm sorry, I was sarcastic, that's why I put this unusual announcement in here. I like to break rules.
And I meant, I was different from the people that I share a roof with. Most are severely addicted something. Maybe I belong here too, someone thinks I was addicted to sex (masturbation to be precise).

Too much info Bingo....

Anyway, good luck on the walkabout... I'm sure it'll be a character building experience. Life is worth living for the experiences it throws our way.
