Simple question about 2xAdat 16ch recording and clock sync.

Sorry if the question is too obvious, but I´m not sure about this issue:

Have,
Scope with 2x8 adat
Yamaha Aw4416 workstation with 2xadat (amplied with slot options).

Question is to record 16chanel Adat in both directions.
On the Yamaha can select external sync from ch 1-2 of slot 1, or 3-4 slot1, etc, same for the other slot.
On the Scope if want to external clock, can select Adat A or Adat B.
Well, since both adats in both machines are in the same device, do I need wordclock connection or is not needed in this case? I think that both devices, the clock sent to the 16ch adat should be the same (the internal), or I´m wrong and need workclock to fit because are diferent slots or adat inputs?
Thanks in advance.

no, you don't need wordclock.

you do need to decide which unit is master, either Scope or Yamaha. if both are master, you will get errors and clicks and pops, if both are slave to external ADAT, there will be no sound. personally, i'd start with Scope as master and then sync the Yamaha to external ADAT. as long as you have input and output cables connected, that should be no problem and it probably doesn't matter what channel is used for sync.

Ok, depending on the use will master one or the other. Even the Yamaha two cards... work as one as master clock? I suppose yes but on the manual is and example using the wordclock output so that was my doubt..
Thanks in advance.

yes, it should work. there's no reason that the Yamaha can't slave to ADAT, though.
