5.0 VS 5.1

I've posted my unflinching trouble with the STS sampler under Scope 5.1 were I could not get more than 32 voices for the STS 5000, or load more than one STS-3000 at 32 voices despite being able to load 6 STS-3000 on Scope 4.0. (Async Error)

So, digging into the back of my mind I remembered seeing the key for 5.0 when I installed 5.1.

What are the differences between these two? (Keep in mind I'm on Windows XP SP3.)


The reason I ask is because I decided to install 5.0 and see if the STS woes existed there as well, and lo and behold...they don't, so far.


Id hate to get deep into using 5.0 only to bump into other issues not foreseen.

Any insight ?

5.1 was released primarily for Win7 64bit drivers. Don't know for sure if there were any other upgrades or bug fixes.

So I shouldn't expect any Gotchas using 5.0?

I've been using 5.0 since it came out and haven't had really any issues with it. I just recently loaded up all of my old Akai sample disks to the hard drive for the STS. Works like a champ. Then again I haven't really tasked it heavily. I usually just record a midi track to audio and then disable it, then go back and re-record it if I need to make any changes. I understand for automation and such someone would need to run several midi parts at the same time though.
