I was just browsing the Magma site, and it seems there have been some advancements in Pulsar testing using their PCI expansion boxes...

MAGMA's Development Partner, CreamWare, has just finished their testing of a digital audio solution and the 2 slot chassis. CreamWare successfully tested 32 tracks at 24 bits/96 kHz. Francis Mandin, Director of CreamWare, states that the 2 Slot CardBus PCI Expansion System provides "the most compact and most powerful digital audio studio available on the market". So it seems some testing has been done, with favourable results! Has anybody else had any experience with using this type of setup with either a PC or a Mac?

Killer -- yes someone on Pulsar-SCOPE (igor?) has this setup and loves it -- the only drawback is if you expect the same killer PCI performance as the i815 boards, you may be disappointed -- but for just audio tracks and a "real life" number of verbs, this could be a great combo!

Other than PCI Bus performance (I don't run verbs in Pulsar), is anyone aware of any other issues to think about when trying to use this setup?

I won't be doing any audio recording on the laptop, all done externally. I was thinking more along the lines of using this kind of setup as another piece of external gear in a live rig -- all running through a digital mixer/recorder.
