here's another track that i engineered for Butler.

mixed in Scope w/BX, Optimaster. SC plate, DAS 660, very little eq(mostly PEQ cuts) and a few automation tricks(nothing too complicated).

recorded at various times and in a strange order, edited in Cubase, it came out pretty nice.

That's impressive, and the photography really hits home as I can see Klamath Falls, Yosemite, Mammoth, Arizonas' Mesa's and the Ridge......awesome.
Tell him thanks for not ruining it with a picture of Compton....

Really nice mixing there chief. Does DAS call the plug something other than the 660...?
I am sure I have that, if it's the Fairchild emu I know I do.

Nicely done! I like the air and space in the mix, everything is exactly where it should be. Almost to clean for my taste, but it's not my type of music anyway

@Jim-yes, that's the Fairchild.

@katano-not my favorite style either(although i do like Jazz, i've just heard more than enough of it over the years), but i like Butler and so i like his music. actually, after hearing it so many times, i've learned what i really do love about it. Bulter's a funny guy. he plays hard rock Irish music too... the musicianship of all those who played on that album was the best part.


i forgot to mention the Dynatube guitar amp and the Celmo Bass amp...

Well placed, a nice sound, and clear, almost too clear for my taste too, but that's taste
Just one point: I miss some lows, and while it's not music meant to drill the stomac it could use a bit.
Could be the wish of the band tho.
Good musicins indeed, especially cause the keep it to the ridm when solo-ing.

@hubird, yes, Patrick didn't want it to be bass heavy. it's not dance music and while it's not traditional Jazz per se, he still wanted that vibe. i'm happy that it ended up sounding like a band in a room. it was anything but that.
