I think the issue is the PCI overload.

But if the main goal is adding more inputs without flooding the whole PCI bus by some MV, i hope this could be done !

Experiments have been made without good results on that. At least that I'm aware of.

i'm running 2x 6DSP Pulsar II Project Cards on my new system.
based on the "Masterverb Test" the PCI caps 2 MV's before the DSP. 13/15.
I tend to do more signal routing than sound generation/fx so I haven't seen any problems on that front, but 4 might be a different story.
