Scope 7 and STM 2448 and 4896 Mixer Maybe Bugs
Scope 7 and STM 2448 and 4896 Mixer Maybe Bugs
Hi,
I have upgaded to scope 7 PCi. CLEAN INSTAL.
I have Three 6 DSP Cards Pulsur 2 working happily in ver 5
I am now having the following Bugs in ver 7:
1) when booting up scope 7 the program reports an exception;
ONLY ONE SOURCE MODULE NEEDED!!!
ONLY ONE DESTINATION NEEDED!!!
I have no duplicate modules in my set up and I did a clean instal.
i can still boot into Scope 7 if I acceptand hit enter.
2) 2448 AND 4896 MIXERS
Mixers load ok and play. But half way through the song they freeze and crash SCOPE.
Something to do with timing out because DSP 5 or DSP 6 on Board 1 not returning a request.
3) The same happens when I try to allocate board use in the big mixers.
It is possible to make channels 1 to 12 or 13 to 24 use board board 1 to 3.
All other mixers seem to be working OK
4)I will try and use another PCI board as Board ONE to see if this is a BOARD problem.
But I dd not have this problem with ver 5.1.
5) In Scope 7 is it still neccessary to edit the CCest.ini file to instruct Scope that I have 3 PCi Cards??
I note Scope 7 defaults to one PCi BOARD???
6) Could it be that my Scope 7 installation file was corrupted during download??
Thank you in advance for your help.
Regards
Ike

Re: Scope 7 and STM 2448 and 4896 Mixer Maybe Bugs
Scope never crashes on my system while just running. Crashes were just observed during loading modules.
Did you use 5.1 on the same operating system or did you change more then just 5.1 -> 7 ?
What is the excetion you get on start ? Do you have hardware in you project, that isn't shown in scope any more ?
I would try with just your "licenced" card in the pc to make sure there is no problem with the interconnection of boards.

Re: Scope 7 and STM 2448 and 4896 Mixer Maybe Bugs
there isn't a need to edit cset.
1. try making a new start-up project. the old one may be corrupted. if you do not see 3 cards in the dsp or samplerate window, then you have a hardware issue. make sure the cards are truly fully seated in their slots.
2. that sounds like a hardware issue. that type of error is almost always a bad card. you can try cleaning the cards' contacts with a good commercial contact cleaner or 99% or better alcohol. do not use alcohol that is less than 99% pure.
3. no, you cannot allocate that way.
4. it is not a board order problem.
5. above
6. maybe, but it's doubtful.

Board issue, see possible repair options discussed and linked on our forums.
Re: Scope 7 and STM 2448 and 4896 Mixer Maybe Bugs
Hi
Thanx to you all for the help.
I isolated the registered card and it is the culprit.
How do I go about licencing the other two cards so that I can work while that one is repaired.
I removed it and tried to run with the other two cards but they are asking for a licence.
Regards
Ike

I would send an email to support and see what they can do.
I think the support email is on Sonic-Core website
Edit:
Yes it is, so email support@soniccore.de
Best of luck

A keytransfer is the solution.ikemhla wrote: Sun Apr 24, 2022 9:46 am

It costs EUR 99.- and S|C will do it for you.
By hardware serial numbers you specify the (your broken) card and the card to which all the keys shall be transfered.
You send a copy of your broken card´s keyfile to S|C as well.
You´ll get a new keyfile, incl. SCOPE application key and all your device´s keys for one of your working cards then.
AFAIK, the keys keep being registered to you currently broken card as well, so it´s easy going back to your old configuration once your card is repaired.
You can order the keytransfer in the S|C shop,- I think.

there is no keytransfer for the Scope key, only plugins can be transferred.

Ah,- sorry !garyb wrote: Mon Apr 25, 2022 6:06 am there is no keytransfer for the Scope key, only plugins can be transferred.
So what, when a card is broken ?
I currently own 4 PCI cards, leaved 1 of these as a spare in case of failure.
Transfer all optional and 3rd party devices,- then buy SCOPE all new ?

if the broken card is returned to me, then replacement keys are free.

O.k., thx !garyb wrote: Mon Apr 25, 2022 2:49 pm if the broken card is returned to me, then replacement keys are free.
The "to you returned" card is lost then ?
No chance for repair and to use it as a booster later after keys being transfered and a surgery helped ?

Re: Scope 7 and STM 2448 and 4896 Mixer Maybe Bugs
But that then opens the door to having an extra key associated with two cards, and if resold the upgrade sale that would have been potential for a non v7 card would be lost.
So, you must choose. Repair or replacement with another card and key transfer (since the card is now gone). Keeping in mind of course that repair does not always mean success...

From gary;
1) I have made a new start up project. things seem ok but loading 8 Pro Reverbs crash the pc.
I m now not sure which board is the problem. The dsp sync warning has disappeared but i still crash.
Can nvidia 610 cause problems?
3) How do I allocate Garry??
4) Yes its not a Board order problem.
I have to be certain which is the faulty board befor sending one off to you.
I implemented your recomendations. cleaned the contacts , New start project etc.
I will try running them one at a time as soon as I get the temporary key.

from valis.
if repair cannot guarrantee success what then is the way foward?

Re: Scope 7 and STM 2448 and 4896 Mixer Maybe Bugs
Imho it‘s not a hardware (card) issue, in particular because of the modules message you got, right after installing Scope 7.
Scope does interact with Windoze in a fairly complex way and may produce strange behavior. And of course the video card driver may play a role in this game.
In case of Win7 I‘d simply get a small SSD (good for backup anyway) and reconstruct the previous Scope 5 install.
If it‘s Win 10/11 then there‘s nothing you can do about finding the source of trouble because that system is in constant change by nature.
There really isn‘t much on the card that can fail, aside from the capacitors on the right half.
best of luck, Tom

8 masterverb pro is not a bad limit.
Re: Scope 7 and STM 2448 and 4896 Mixer Maybe Bugs
i wonder what you mean by "crash".
a PCI limit message isn't a crash. a crash is usually either the computer locks up and won't do anything, or a program or the entire computer spontaneously shuts down and/or reboots. if the computer crashes because of reverbs in the routing window, i might test the computer's memory and power supply.

The computer spontaneously shuts down and reboots.
Thanx for the update.
For the 3 cards I have a 900 Watt power supply.
Will test the memory as advised
thanx again
