** Please ignore this thread ! The answer was staring me in the face all along! (ADSR B)**
*********************************************

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I'm wanting to add a bi-polar env signal in Mod2 and I don't know how to do it.

I know the bi-polar env from v1 must have been dropped with good reason, so it must be possible to recreate this in v2, but how?

None of the modifier modules seem appropriate. The Constant Value bipolar doesn't help as it just adds/subtracts a fixed +/- 64 amount to the signal. What I want is something that will invert the signal.

The Obsidian Invertor would probably do the trick, but what about Mod 2 modules?

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.

Ben

Isn't the Modular1 modules directly useable in Modular2? Try this!

And along those same lines, since developers had no problems making Mod1 modules, and Mod1 modules work in Mod2, couldn't developers simply make "mod1" modules that looked like Mod2 modules, to extend the Modular2?

Yes, but I assume that when CW dropped the bipolar env from Mod2, they thought there was a way to reproduce the same effect with the Mod2 modules.

If I can do it with Mod2 modules, I'd prefer that, even if its just for aesthetic reasons !

multisegment bs can go bipolar.

you can also add (mix) a bias offset of -32 (constant val bi polar module) to the orignal signal to push the envelopes useable range below zero.

i know its got to be possible to expand this useable range to -64 to +63 (or whatever it is), as it will only be at -32 to + 32. but i just can't wrap my head around how, exactly.

hmm, i think just adding (mixing) two of the offset signals together will expand the range. its hard to know for sure, but it sounds like it is.

the mixers should have all inputs and output controls set to the maximum position for this to work right.

argh, just reread your post.

do you want to invert the envelope (only + or only - modulation), or do you want to go fully bipolar, i.e. have positive and negative values?

if you just want an inverted envelope, adsr b has an intverted output in addition to a norml one. you can also invert a signal by ring modulating it by -64.

Oh, god, so it does - I looked through all the Mod2 envelopes this afternoon and somehow missed this completely!
Sorry for the waste of time !

i beleive that u can use also the obsidian invertor on any envelope-correct me if i 'm wrong
