Depends on your computer mainboard, I guess.
Example ASUS: (possibly working w/ ASUS boards only)
https://www.asus.com/motherboards-compo ... rboltex-4/
In the past, some of these cards ahd a special TB header connector in addition which required the same connector on the mainboardn and in addition to the mainboard´s PCIe (3.0 / 4.0) x4 slot(s),- and it needed a TB-ribbon cable w/ the required connectors.
I dunno if this is the same today,- so plz double check before you buy.
At least, I was unable to find the proprietairy AsRock TB card for my AsRock Z97,- especially not for an acceptable price and until it became unavailable at all.
I also found this kind of "buyer´s guide" ...
https://thunderboltlaptop.com/best-thun ... cie-cards/
... ad it seems, ASUS, Gigabyte and AsRock TB4 cards are the best for PC and these mainboards offering the TB4 via PCIe x4 slot feature.
And yes, they all need the TB-header on the mainboard too.
