REW EQ BANDS Experimental

This device is experimental and allows to replicate filter parameters from REW filter Text files into a scope device ( REW INFO https://www.roomeqwizard.com/ ).

REW can output an eq file for the windows APO Equalizer (free https://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/ ).
It has 18 bands in general. and works on the system audio.
For ASIO, it is possible to output an IR from REW, but does not sound the same as APO equalizer.

Hence the possibility to do something for both wave and asio stream, in a single device (that can be placed on its own DSP).

In the REW Bands device, gain of band is limited to +/- 12dB. bands 19 and 20 can be used to add some dB to go beyond +/- 12dB
- Values must be input manually (no text file import).
- Hz, Gain and Q value use the same resolution and range as REW (same math). However results may vary substantially in comparison to APO Equalizer.
- Preset files contains an "all off" preset.
- The eq curve can be manipulated with the mouse but it has not been made for that (you must grab invisible pixels to move the curve from the curve display... which is actually possible).

It is an alternative to creating IR with REW and loading them in ASIO, which may not be great. So this allows to have something that works on scope output, and could be used to make an IR too (it is more halpful to switch between several profiles of yours quickly).

It also works as a simple 20 bands Parametric Sharc DSP stereo Equalizer :-)

Have fun !

It contains the secret of life and the universe and beyond (if you listen very closely several times, like 35 times or more, guaranteed results for better skin tan next summer, and it also helps making the world a better place for rabbits)

Interesting. Thanks Mehdi, I'll have a closer look at this when I have some time. :)

This is a pretty neat solution for using REW values in Scope

It'd be nice some day if there's a way import the text file but it's certainly no huge effort to manually input the REW results.

Many thanks for the continuing development of devices for Scope

nice, I'd like to hear about people findings. Here removing gain seems way too strong. Not sure if it is the gain or the Q bandwith that gives that impression (or may be it is just me). Next time I try to room-equalize, I will start with the frequencies of the REW file, then act manually on gains and Q to remove big bumps (like, doing a new room sample each step).

Thanks Mehdi,
I have tried a few times to get my room mode issues sorted, using IK Multimedia ARC, with very limited success.
I will try with REW EQ Bands Experimental.
I have not looked at the room eq since setting up SCOPE on its own stand alone PC, fed from RME RayDat on the main DAW, so here's hoping for a better outcome.
Thanks again
