Now Entwhistle. Jeez man we must be getting old or something. I hope these guys have a kick-ass band going on up in heaven. I wonder if you can get Pulsar up there?

There must be cultural differences about talking about death here. I thought Krizrox was very respectful in a gently joking way. And by the way if you're going to insult him the proper english spelling of the Yiddish is "schmuck."

How about you taking 10 deep breaths of air away from the keyboard before you start typing mails like that ?

I can not find Kriz' mail offensive in any way. You, on the other hand comes across to me as very rude, totally uncalled for

There was no disrespect implied. Quite the opposite actually. I really do hope they have a kick-ass band going on up there (well, more than one I would hope)

If something I said offended anyone, then sorry.

Entwhistle was truly a musical hero to me as well as the other members of the Who. Glad to say I got a chance to see them perform in Germany (no less) back in the late 70's (sorry, Moon gone by then).

The bit about Pulsar was a joke however. Nothing this buggy can possibly exist in my version of Heaven  (JUST KIDDING!!!)

I'm certainly sympathetic to Entwhistle's family and the rest of the band, but I don't see the genius of his playing, especially after watching one of his clinic videos..zzzzzz. I mean, Victor Wooten, Pattitucci, Jaco, Geddy...these are players. The best I can say about Entwhistle is that he was a loyal hard-working sideman who happened to be in the right band at the right time.

not true, all the guys you mention are amazing players but Entwhistle's style was unique, it wasnt anout how many be-bop tunes he could slap at a 1.000 kmh but his sound and style, I can hear him a mile off..
maybe he didnt make good starlicks videos
but he didnt need to.

I had to edit this, victor wooten.. damn what an arse..his attempt at slapping donna lee was so sad, self indulgance in the highest order. im amazed you even mention jaco in the same breath..

I also did not find the 1st post offensive.

R.I.P

A lot of these Rock Gods were simply in the right place at the right time. Once you reach a certain level of fame your musical ability or lack of it does not matter at all. It's all in the machinery. The labels, people magazine, a good agent, they all work together. In part you have to put the blame on the buying audience. In general I think people are just plain stupid. There seems to be more intellegence in here though. I hardly think many people who post to planet z buy britney spears albums.

some day one clever guy will say that chuck berry and jimmy hendrix are not good gitarists, but in this time it was revolution. in the early sixtees john was one of best and most original bass player in the world.
respect that - if you wont vote, please make new topic

Chuck Berry??? PUHLEEEEEEEZ. You have got to be joking!

Right now the NASA Voyager is 8 billion miles away. Among other things it contains a recording of Chuck Berry and an image of a nude man and woman. The woman is missing genitals like a Barbie doll because congress in all their wisdom decided that they didn't want to send "Pornography" into space.

If there is any intelligent life out there they are going to know we are total idiots. Hendrix would have been a better choice but I'm sure congress didn't want to promote drug use to the aliens.

Yeah, but the aliens are gonna spend hours trying to figure out how we reproduce!

But things like that do make you wonder, why we trust countries to people without a inch of common sense between them.

At least now we know why the aliens do all these spooky experiments with women they kidnap (direct implantation of fetus and so): It's cause they wonder how reproduction would work without genitals .
