I used the Zarg Pro-One for the cool bassline that pulls this epic house/trance/techno track forth.
All the other synth sounds are from the Nord Rack 2 again (except for the atmospheric bubbly sounds on the left which is the Pro-One again)
This track started out as a bit of a beat experiment, I wanted to use a lot of percussion to liven up the drumtrack, so I just started programming in Battery, kept adding sounds until at one point I had the luminous idea to give the whole thing a shuffle groove which immediately improved the rhythm a lot.
I used the Vinco on the master (it seems I got lucky, my "demo" version is still working ) output with gentle settings (about 3-4 db gainreduction).
I also made heavy use of SFP delay, chorus, phaser and autopan effects and the PT Free reverb to try and give each sound it's own space. Mixing lots of layers always scares the hell out of me but I think it worked out pretty well regardless. I actually did a lot of this spacing while listening on headphones, it just gives me a better "view" of where everything is in the mix although you have to check it on speakers before doing the mixdown.

not my style, but pretty cool anyways. Definitely needs a little more variation for the living room environment, but would be fine in a club if I wasn't paying too much attention.

Criticism: It is definitely missing a melody. The stage is all set, and nicely so, but the lead never quite emerges. I was expecting an anthem-style trance lead synth w/delay on it, but it never happened . . .

Really like you choice of sounds, nice combo. I agree with algorhythm
an Anthem style lead synth would have been cool.
Alternatively a couple of big drum breaks and a contrasting drum rhythm somewhere along the way could also increase the intensity of the track.
Definitely suitable for a DJ to juggle at a club though.

Thanks for the comments! I'm not really into those big trance-anthem style things, instead I focused more on slowly building up a swinging, danceable groove, adding a new element every eight bars or so, coupled with some atmospheric background sounds to give it some more..er...atmosphere
I think it turned out very well for what I wanted.

I like the part from 5:00 to 6:00 best; I can defenitely hear the seashore! I find it relaxing. Beautiful sounds.

I made a few slight tweaks to the mix and to some of the fades going into the breakdown. Nothing major but it sounds a bit nicer now IMO.

Definitely find this in the chill-out room, or even in the drive home at 5 in the morning.

It reminds me of when my eyes went big

Nice sounds man! I like particularly the last part, from about 4. This chenge could nevertheless had happened before in the song. From about 2 to 3, the groovy goes really well, and gets you into it.

I think it really works, despite the detalis I'm poiting out, which are very subjective as well.
