Hi,
I think, that many of you had to met this MIDI problem with Cubase SX, because in Cubase 5 everything is working ok (on the same system).
When I have several recorded MIDI tracks routed to Pulsar instruments (not to VST instruments) and I want to for example one of them play/record live through MIDI keyboard, everytime I touch the keyboard, other MIDI Pulsar instruments get quiet. But when I replay what I recorded live, all other Pulsar devices are playing good.
Please, help me, because how can I record other new tracks to former recorded when I can´t hear them during recording ?
Thanks a lot in advance
Peter Cherry

i'm not having this behaviour of sx...
i don't know what to say, except for the suggestion to post also all your sistem specs. and all the settings of all devices (midi ports etc...)in sx, so maybe something can be found there that explains the strange thing.....
i hope you solve it.
check also cubase forums.
ciao.

...and every one has a different setup.
I never experienced it either.
one hint: The amount of SeqDest/Source in your project, as specified in Device Manager.

So my setup is:
Standart PC with WIN XP Proffesional ENG ver,
Creamware Pulsar I with SW 3.1a
Roland Alpha Juno 2 as masterkeyboard
Now I´m not at my computer, so I can´t tell you what I have set up in Device manager, but in Pulsar manager, Seq Dest shows 1 for chanel and it can´t be changed.

And to understand me exactly:
I´m using Cubase SX and with former Cubase 5 on the same system I never had this problem before. I hear instrument that I´m recording, but I don´t hear others (external Pulsar)insruments routed by virtual MIDI from Cubase to Pulsar (I hear only internal VST instruments). And when I stop touching MIDI keyboard, all external instruments will start play again...and when I start touching keyboard again, all extarnal instruments will silent.

very strange...do you have both sx and vst currently installed on the same machine?
and in this case, what happens if you close sx and open vst with the same pulsar project? if vst works normally, you should maybe reinstall sx...
i know also that there was an issue with sx showing multiple midi ports...and some of them must be disabled in device settings, as they double data..(i never had this on my system, but others had).
you know, if pulsar synths are loaded they usually have one voice polyphony, and if they receive doubled midi notes they could stop playing.
do you have each pulsar inst. on a different midi channel? they usually are loaded in omni mode, in that way they receive from all channels....

Thanks Alfonso for your replay, but I´m not just stranger in music SW&HW, so things like low polyphony of instruments, different MIDI chanels and whatever are for beginners. It´s not this problem.
Yes, I tried to run old Cubase with the same project, everything ran well. So problem seems to be in Cubase SX, I tried SX beta before and problem was the same + multiple MIDI ports. So reinstalling of Cubase also doesn´t help.

New fact:
I tried to conect from SEQVENCER MIDI SOURCE only STS400 and into STS I loaded 2 instruments (the fisrt on midi channel 1 and the second on midi channel 2). Polyphony was set up to 10 voices (for example).
But problem is the same. When Cubase SX is replaying part for instrument on chanel 1 and I´m recording with instruments on channel 2 everytime I touch the MIDI keyboard, the other instrument gets silent. But after recording, when Cubase is replying both parts together, both ones are playing ok.

Hi Peter,
do you use ASIO2 drivers? As far as I rembember, ASIO1 drivers cannot work in full-duplex-mode, that means, you cannot listen while you record something else (just an idea ... might be wrong). Anyway, I use SX in XTC-mode or OS-mode without any problem. So there must (!) be a solution!
Good luck,
Uwe

To Kimgr: Yes, I think I´ll have to kill the messenger, because you want to say, that I must buy new MIDI hardware, when I install new version of o SW ? You are a dealer, aren´t you
))))
SW is only SW and when my MIDI Pulsar Interface was very good for my requirements before, it can´t get worse itself with a new version of the same SW.
Please, help me somenody. I don´t want to return to Cubase 5, because new SX I like.

This does definatly not have to do with Creamware in!!! Since I used to have the same problem and now it's solved. It was some "stupid" thing like having the channnel you play on set to "omni" or something like that. I just can't remember. Sorry. You seem to surpress the other channels by "playing" them.
