What about XP? Well, yes, 98SE has better support for lots of things, like USB...
But, what about XP?

XP doesn't seem to have any advantage compare to Win98 SE for DAW with pulsar system...
Don't you think so ?

If you've got quite an old machine (<400 Mhz, <128MB) then maybe stick to 98SE. Otherwise, I can't think of any reason to stay with 98. XP is so superior in nearly every way. It almost never crashes, has heaps more tuning capability and is just a genuinely less frustrating experience. There's much less of the tiptoe-ing around than I used to have to do with 98.

I was very glad with win98se.
I upgraded to XP pro, and couldn't use vst 5.1
I had to order SX to make music under XP (also because i tested SX few monthes ago, and became addicted to it).
I hope i'm nor wrong but if you run VST, stay under win98 (se) or upgrade to SX if you want to upgrade to XP.
A few friends of mine were in the same situation : they didn't make any music until they received the SX upgrade ... vst is not great under XP, while it's very good under win98.
The main difference between VST and SX is the sound....
Myself, win98SE behaved very well in every aspect with VST.
Now if you use logic or something else, i don't know....

I've ran Cubase VST for one year on my XP system (before SX came out) and it worked great. Since the SX release, I'm on XP/SX.
There's a patch or adjustment to SX which allows it to run on 98 too, AFAIK. Plus there's a VST-link update for VST coming...

Maybe a new board and XP?
CUSL2 has problems with USB + 98SE.
I run my CUSL2-C with USB disabled in 98SE. In XP I must enable it because of SX, the protection is a USB stick. Result is that I can burn CDs (SCSI) only with USB disabled.
A bit messy this. Forget to enable -> no SX in XP.
98SE runs a bit faster.
After some month now I use more the XP. No traktor player needed for listening CDs, more comfort.
Happy pulsaring
