Hi,
Can anyone help me to get a STS-4000 program to follow the panning envelope drawn in Sonar v1.02 (or Cakewalk 9)? Btw I'm using the individual outputs of the STS, not the stereo outs.
I just want my sound to be going from left to right, but Pulsar doesn't seem to react to panning changes in Sonar & I don't know what I'm doing wrong/overlooking.
TIA
Zork

definitely a geek (nothing better to do?), although not a pulsar geek in my book . . . it takes REAL posts for that . . .

except that someone, i.e. me, is paying for the storage and bandwidth on this server, so, while this was amusing and fun, it's so OT it's not not even on the same planet, so i'm gonna go ahead and delete all these posts, ok? not trying to censor you, but you're not really saying anything anyway are you?

incidentally, if you're curious about the rating system, which is really just for fun, and is altogether silly in the same spirit as zork's nonsense posts, please just visit the <a href="

you can also see the table of smileys there too.

so zork, about sts and panning control, i've never tried this.
i remember that the sts samplers don't have simple midi control like other pulsar devices (e.g. right click on knob and choose midi controller). instead there is a table of midi controllers which you set up, e.g. modulator A is CC#34 or something. then you can internally modulate certain parameters with modulator A. this is more like hardware samplers (e.g. the emu samplers are exactly like this). i've never tried it with sts, so i'm not sure which sts parameters are modulatable. perhaps pan isn't one of them?

Here is a list of controllers for the STS4000:
01 Modulation
07 Volume
10 Pan
11 Expression
67 Footswitch
70 Cutoff
72 Release
73 Attack
So, try CC10. However I think the STS only allows one external CC which you define by clicking the "Settings" option "External Control" You then can select this External under the Panning and Filter Modulation pages. So, if CC10 doesn't work, then you have to use up your SINGLE ONLY external CC.
The STS5000 has more assignable External controllers.
Personally I use a Kurzweil for lots of modulation possiblities and the STS for my "straight" uneffected sounds as the filters and modulation on STS are pretty basic.

Hey Zork !
You said you are using the individual outputs (smells like Parad*x...

) : so why not assigning a midi controller to the pan knob in the mixer for the input you want to modulate ? (Simple isn't it ?)

First of all I'd like to apoligize for my childish & unnecessary "posts" I'm feeling

.
John Cooper-> thank you, for removing these silly "posts" & for your comments regarding the sts-4000 pan issue.
Subhuman-> thanx for your input!
I'll give the external cc a try.
Regards,
Zork
