if there is a master clock running and present, DP can not POSSIBLY know the difference between scope being master or slave upon opening.

Scope 4 has 'just' cosmetic' and some faster loading times to offer, installing can't harm anything

THANK YOU ALL for your contributions. The problem appears to be resolved.
the FIX (in this case) is to Assign DP Audio driver to Sound Manager before changing SCOPe Audio clock to Slave - then go back to DP and select Creamware ASIO Driver.
The entire system feels more robust since I have been doing things this way - no crashes at all so far (couple of days).
Thanks Again!
and best wishes
Ed

Keep us informed as to whether this is stable or not. It seems odd that you have to select the CW ASIO driver ech time as in Cubase it stores it in the song (but maybe that's the way DP works), so that when you load a song it already looks at the rifght drivers. i've been using Slave mode for the first time recently (with the AES in/out on my Podxt Pro) and it seems stable here - although i will always close Cubase before switching, this doesn't seem to be an option for you.
With this new workaround can you switch SCOPE to Slave mode and then launch DP or is that still a no-no?

Greetings Mr A
DP will remember CW ASIO each song - but I must disable CW ASIO (i.e. switch to "Sound Manager") pre-switching SCOPE to Audio>Slave. When that is done, then I reselect CW ASIO - and all appears to be totally well. No need to close DP!
I will report more detail if I discover it, but this is the first time that I have not had to reboot the machine for each project, I can switch DP songs, and change SCOPe settings w/o 1st quitting DP. Many of the things that used to cause crashes (making chjanges in either DP or SCOPE while working on a song) do not cause crashes anymore. I am just starting to get used to that. Seems Extremely Robust. I used to get long hangs for unknown reasons - not any more. I am Quite Happy - it is like having a new system.
thanks Again
